Thursday, June 7th of 2012 was quite a day at Ted Perez + Associates as the company helped John C. Gregory [aka Jack] celebrate his 30th birthday. Jack [pictured] has been with Ted Perez for just over a year as an Associate Designer. A talented chap for certain, one of Jack's first assignments with the firm was overseeing the production of the rug featured in the agency's Overlook Lounge. The rug is a custom commission produced in The Kingdom of Thailand and, for those unfamiliar, inspired by Mr. Stanley Kubrick's cinematic interpretation of Mr. Stephen King's The Shining.

Jack, a real stickler for precision, ensured both color and scale matched - as best as can be interpolated from DVD presentations of, presumably, Mr. Roy Walker's [Production Designer on The Shining] signature design. It certainly doesn't require an advanced degree in botany or advanced computer skills to compare an object with universal appreciation [e.g. Danny's ball] to the unknown - but it does ask that the interpreter appreciate ATL.
With final proportions and pattern locked, custom colors were sourced and ordered to best replicate Mr. Walker's original work [the above is a rudimentary representation of the bones].
The rug would take 3 months to produce.
In the interim, a sweater was commissioned, as a means of thanking Jack for his work, to match one worn by Danny Torrance - by way of Costume Designer Milena Canonero.

On June 7 of 2012 Jack's sweater and rug were revealed in the Overlook Lounge at Ted Perez HQ in Venice of America.

John C. Gregory is now 30 and The Overlook Lounge at Ted Perez + Associates is settled. The next assignment? Unknown. What is known is that...
